Screens shift colour. A white can look warm on one phone and blue on another, and a woodgrain photographed in daylight won't look the same under your downlights. A sample settles it. This guide explains the two kinds of sample we offer, what each costs, how the credit works and how to get the most from them.
What kinds of sample are there?
Finish samples: for colour
An 80 × 160 mm piece of the real finish, big enough to hold against your benchtop, floor and wall. It ships straight away and costs $5 to $10. Its value comes back to you as a discount code (see below).
Full Size Profile Samples: for profile, edge and scale
A real 400 × 200 mm drawer front, made the same way as your order, in the same material and with the same profile and edge. It shows what a finish sample can't: whether a Shaker frame suits your cabinet width, how a groove reads at full size, and how the edge meets the handle. They cost $30 to $100, and are not credited back.

How does the sample credit work?
Once your sample order is paid, we email you a single-use discount code for the value of your finish samples. It is valid for 12 months on a joinery order of $1,000 or more. Full Size Profile Samples aren't included, because they are made the same way as your doors.
What about Polytec and the full Laminex range?
We don't stock Polytec samples at the moment. Polytec sends free colour chips direct, and full-size Polytec Thermofoil doors are on display at our showroom. Our Laminex finish samples cover a selection of the range; Laminex also sends free chips from its full range.
How long do samples take?
Ready-to-ship samples usually leave within one to two business days. Made-to-order samples are built the same way as your doors, so allow the lead time shown on each one.
How to get the most from your samples
- Order two or three at once. Comparing finishes side by side in your own light tells you far more than looking at one on its own.
- Check them morning and evening, next to your floor, benchtop and wall paint.
- Use a full-size sample for the profile. The finish sample shows colour and texture only.
- Want a custom paint colour? Order the Full Size Profile Sample (Colour) and give us any Dulux, Taubmans or Porters name and code.

Common questions
Are samples refunded?
Finish samples come back as a single-use discount code for their value, valid for 12 months on a joinery order of $1,000 or more. Full Size Profile Samples are not credited.
Do finish samples show the door profile?
No. The 80 × 160 mm finish sample shows colour and texture. Only the 400 × 200 mm Full Size Profile Sample shows the profile, edge and scale.
Can I get a sample in my own paint colour?
Yes. The Full Size Profile Sample (Colour) is sprayed in any Dulux, Taubmans or Porters colour you give us. It is made to order, so allow about four weeks.
