IKEA's cabinet systems are a sound, affordable frame. The part everyone sees is the fronts. Customea supplies doors, drawer fronts, cover panels, fillers and plinths sized to IKEA's own systems, all made to order. You buy the cabinets and hinges from IKEA. Everything you see comes from us.
This guide covers which IKEA systems our doors fit, the finishes and profiles you can choose, what they cost, and how ordering works.
What does "custom IKEA doors" mean?
You keep the IKEA carcass, the hinges, the drawers and the internal hardware. You replace the fronts and the visible panels. The items in our standard range are made to the same standard measurements as IKEA's METOD, PAX and BESTÃ… fronts, with the same drilling. METOD and PAX doors arrive with the hinge holes already drilled for IKEA's standard hinges, which you buy from IKEA. Handle holes are drilled on site by your installer, so you can put the handle exactly where you want it.
Which IKEA systems do Customea doors fit?
METOD kitchens and laundries
For METOD we offer doors, drawer fronts, cover panels, filler panels and plinths (kicks). Our cover panels are made larger than IKEA's so your installer can trim them to uneven walls and floors. See the full range of custom doors for IKEA METOD kitchens.
PAX wardrobes
Our PAX doors fit the 50, 75 and 100 cm wide frames at 201 or 236 cm tall, and they are 51 mm longer than IKEA's so they cover the kickboard. We also offer door-and-drawer sets for 236 cm frames, extension cabinets that take a PAX up towards the ceiling, and side panels. Start with our PAX wardrobe doors and add-ons.
BESTÃ… TV and storage units
For BESTÃ… we offer doors, drawer fronts, tops and side panels, so a run of BESTÃ… units can read as one built-in piece. Browse BESTÃ… doors, tops and side panels.
Cabinets that aren't IKEA
We also have a range sized for Bunnings kitchens. For any other cabinet, the bespoke door builder takes your exact width and height in millimetres, up to 1200 × 2400 mm.
Which finishes can you choose?
There are seven finish families. In short:
- Painted (2Pac Poly): 18 mm moisture-resistant MDF sprayed in 2Pac polyurethane. Choose one of 12 standard colours or give us any Dulux, Taubmans or Porters colour code.
- Unpainted (Raw): the same profiles in 18 mm moisture-resistant MDF, ready for you to paint.
- NAVURBANâ„¢: a timber-look surface with a 3D-embossed grain, 46 finishes, made in our Mortdale factory.
- Formica woodgrain: seven woodgrains on 16 mm moisture-resistant MDF.
- Laminex: 121 colours across the Natural, AbsoluteMatte and AbsoluteGrain surfaces.
- Polytec Decorative 16mm: 77 flat colours and woodgrains.
- Polytec Thermofoil: a thermolaminated finish over shaped MDF, 51 colours across Smooth, Matt and Woodmatt. These are bought in as finished doors from Polytec; we drill the hinge and drawer holes in our Mortdale factory.
You can compare all seven finish families side by side. If you are deciding between a painted and a thermolaminated door, our guide to thermolaminated vs 2Pac doors sets out the differences.
Which door profiles are there?
The profile is the shape routed into the face of the door. Our painted and raw range covers Plain (a flat slab), a family of Shaker profiles (Mini, Slim, Midi, Shaker, French and Round Shaker), Coastal (vertical grooves), Finger Pull (a built-in pull along the top edge) and Arch. Polytec Thermofoil has its own profiles, including Classic Shaker, Reeded, Bevel Frame and Scallop. Some finishes, such as Laminex, Formica and Polytec Decorative, come in Plain only. Our comparison of Shaker vs flat cabinet doors goes through how to choose.
What do custom IKEA doors cost?
Price depends on size, finish and profile. To compare like with like, here is one common size, a 60 × 80 cm METOD door (597 × 797 mm), as priced on our site in October 2026:
| Finish | Plain | Profiled |
|---|---|---|
| Unpainted (Raw) | $100 | $160 |
| Laminex | $160 to $190 | Plain only |
| Formica woodgrain | $190 | Plain only |
| Polytec Decorative 16mm | $190 | Plain only |
| NAVURBANâ„¢ | $255 | $370 (Shaker or Slim Shaker) |
| Painted (2Pac Poly) | $285 | $335 |
| Polytec Thermofoil, Smooth or Matt | $285 | $285 to $395 |
| Polytec Thermofoil, Woodmatt | $370 | $370 to $515 |
A painted door costs the same in a custom colour as in one of our standard colours.

How do you order?
- Shop by size. Every standard METOD, PAX and BESTÃ… size is listed by finish and profile. Match the sizes in your IKEA plan and add them to the cart.
- See it in 3D. Paste the link to your saved IKEA kitchen design into the Customea 3D Kitchen Planner and it rebuilds your kitchen with our doors, priced as you change finishes.
- Upload a PDF. The Instant Quote tool reads a PDF exported from IKEA's planner and matches every door, drawer front and panel to a Customea product.
- Have us do it. Our Build My Cart service ($200) turns your IKEA plan into a complete quote, delivered within 48 hours.
Lead time, delivery and installation
Everything is made to order, typically in 4 to 6 weeks. Sydney metro delivery is a flat $250, and pickup from our Mortdale factory is free by appointment. Interstate and regional freight can add one to two weeks. Your installer assembles the IKEA cabinets and hangs our doors on IKEA's hinges, the same job as a standard IKEA install. If you need someone, we keep a list of recommended installers.
Common questions
Will Customea doors fit my existing IKEA cabinets?
Items in our METOD, PAX and BESTÃ… ranges are made to the same standard measurements as IKEA's, with the same drilling. Always check your cabinet plan and measurements before you order.
Do the doors come with hinges?
No. METOD and PAX doors come with the hinge holes drilled to suit IKEA's standard hinges, which you buy from IKEA. Custom-size doors can be ordered with Blum hinges and drilling for $30 per item, or undrilled.
Can I return doors if I change my mind?
Our doors are made to order, so we can't accept returns for an incorrect order or a change of mind after 24 hours. That is why we suggest settling colour and profile with samples first.
How can I see the finishes before I order?
Our door and finish samples come in two kinds: an 80 × 160 mm finish sample ($5 to $10, with the value returned as a discount code) and a real 400 × 200 mm drawer front ($30 to $100). You can also see full-size doors at our showroom at 600 Princes Highway, Tempe.
